I was very confused initially about how to start preparation.
With guidance of some seniors, I have come to conclusion as follows. (I think it may be useful for others but I also welcome suggestion from IO members) 1 July... Don't start with 1st optional. Start with GS and 2nd optional and keep going for Jul, Aug, Sep. 1 Oct... Start GS + 1st optional(MAINS). Continue for Oct, Nov, Dec. 1 Jan....GS + 1st optional(PRELIMS) Continue for Jan, Feb, Mar. 1 Apr....Revision + Mock tests up to exam day.... 1 Jun to 15 Jul..... 2nd optional 15 Jul to 15 Sep.... 1st optional + GS 16 Sep to 15 Oct.... Mains mock test( paper writing) OCT - NOV.... MAINS EXAM ( and also filling new UPSC form ) Dec to Mar.... Prelim + Interview preparation APR - MAY... INTERVIEW at UPSC May... Result( selected) or Prelim again... This looks ideal for 1st timers and then they can continue upon until become IAS |
